best novels, films and dramas deal with one of the most fundamental
facts of life - namely there are so many situations were choices are to
be made and (timewarps and Hollywood aside) we can never compare
beforehand how each option / choice will work out.
Throughout our lives moving home is one of the biggest choices we can make. So much follows from these choices with emigration bigger still, it takes a lot of courage to upsticks to that extent. Twenty, thirty years later you inevitably wonder - 'what if' - 'if only'? Your partner / sons and daughter-in-laws? 
The friends your 
children made?
 Would
that accident have happened?
Life is such that if people thought like this none of us would ever do anything. It is rather like walking through treacle - only worse - whether your are a physicist; cleric; politician; stock broker or just a mild-mannered Jane or Joe. So what are the pros and cons of moving? Well people are disposed to behave in certain ways because they need something or other. We're hungry we get a jam sandwich (crusty bread essential). We're short of money, so we (rob ... erm) go to the hole in the wall, or our web based bank account. Moving house usually arises because of some need - financial reasons, good and bad, new job opportunities, falling in love with a place on a visit or holiday - it does happen. So moving starts with a perceived need. The critical factor then is who identifies the need?
This is obviously important as the first need is that YOU need to own or take part in the decision making process. You are THE prime factor! So don't be factored out.
